This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in strengthening and embedding an established global trade compliance programme following a recent business acquisition. You will help align policies, systems and operational processes while ensuring compliance with U.S. and international export control regulations.
Working closely with legal, engineering, operations, supply chain and commercial teams, you will provide expert guidance across export controls, licensing, product classification and regulatory compliance. This role is ideally suited to a practical trade compliance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where they can make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead export compliance integration activities following a recent acquisition, ensuring consistent processes and regulatory alignment.
- Review and enhance existing ITAR compliance programmes, identifying risks and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Provide guidance on the handling, storage and transfer of controlled technical data, defence articles and export-controlled technology.
- Support export licensing activities under both ITAR and EAR, including submissions, authorisations and licence management.
- Classify products, software and technology using USML, ECCN and EAR99 classifications.
- Maintain and improve Technology Control Plans (TCPs) and other export control procedures.
- Review export transactions to ensure licensing requirements, restricted party screening and end-user due diligence have been completed correctly.
- Support compliance with U.S. sanctions regulations together with applicable international trade control requirements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to embed export compliance into day-to-day business operations.
- Deliver trade compliance training and provide practical advice across multiple business functions.
- Assist with internal audits, compliance reviews and implementation of corrective actions.
- Support investigations into potential compliance concerns and recommend appropriate remediation.
- Contribute to wider customs and international trade activities, including tariff classifications, country of origin determinations and import/export compliance.
- Monitor regulatory developments and recommend improvements to internal compliance programmes.
What We're Looking For
- The successful candidate will bring a solid background in U.S. export controls together with the ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Law, Supply Chain or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within Trade Compliance, Export Controls or Global Trade.
- Strong working knowledge of ITAR, EAR and U.S. export licensing requirements.
- Experience classifying products using USML and ECCN frameworks.
- Hands-on experience supporting export licences, Technology Control Plans and technical data compliance.
- Practical knowledge of DDTC, DECCS, SNAP-R and associated export licensing systems.
- Experience conducting restricted party screening, end-use reviews and customer due diligence.
- Understanding of customs classification, tariff codes and international shipping regulations.
- Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
